The RIVA shipyard was created in 1842 on Lake Iseo, in Sarnico-Italy. It was a devastating storm - which irreversibly damaged the boats of local fishermen. This event persuaded a young shipbuilder, Pietro Riva, to repair most of these boats, gaining the confidence of the locals.
After the First World War, Serafino Riva gave Riva products their final appearance and transformed the shipyard into a real brand.
Between the 1920s and 1930s, Riva, through its racing yachts, won a large number of records and victories.
The 1950s were the years of Carlo Riva, driven by a boundless passion for the family business. Riva had become everywhere synonymous with elegance, social status and perfection.
In 1956 Riva began working with designer and architect Giorgio Barilani.
In November 1962, the myth was born: the Aquarama. Since its presentation at the third international nautical show in Milan, the Aquarama has become the symbol of Riva par excellence, almost "a brand within a brand".
Of rare beauty and refinement, Riva yachts have always been synonymous with elegance and luxury.
Many celebrities have enjoyed and continue to enjoy a Riva yacht: Brigitte Bardot, King Hussein of Jordan, who has moored her Super Aquarama in Santa Margherita Ligure; Anita Ekberg, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and the Shah of Persia, who fell in love with the Riva 2000.
